Best Philosopher essays In the novel, Sophies World, the philosopher that I was indeed intrigues by was Aristotle. I was astonished by his view over the world. How he was able to go ahead and disagree with his teacher all the time and brought up good explanations to back up on his belief. He not only brought his philosophical views but also brought even more, on how to have the government operate and how it should be limited as well. It was his way of thinking that I love; it would always amaze me on how he would always come up with his stunning ideas. Scientifically and how it was best to have the government work in favor of that wouldnt lead to catastrophic arguments in the long run. His system of checks and balances was a system that would bring government in check so that it wouldnt result that the government would have absolute power. I would like to learn more about Aristotle to get a further understanding of his ideas. What I mean is that I would like to go into depth in his ideas of politics, natures scale, and logic. I also have questions regarding to his teachings and his view of life. In addition, I would like to know personally how he was criticized and he was able to continue his studies without no support from anyone nor having the efficient tools like he have today. Overall, I want to get to know Aristotle from childhood and how he was influenced to become a philosopher. Just want to have some knowledge over Aristotle and his history. I guess the way I would go ahead and seek the information toward Aristotle to personally read his book, The Republic, which focuses on politics and how it should be structured. Also, to go ahead and speak w/ a historian who knows the background of Aristotles days. Finally, another way is to go to an old library that owns books toward the philosophic days and that focuses on Aristotle. The Running Style in English Prose The free-running style, said Aristotle in his book On Rhetoric, is the kind that has no natural stopping-places, and comes to a stop only because there is no more to say of that subject (Book Three, Chapter Nine). As Richard Lanham observes in Analyzing Prose (Continuum, 2003), the running style gives the appearance of a mind at work, making things up as it goes along, with sentences mimicking the rambling, associative syntax of conversation. In The New Oxford Guide to Writing (1988), Thomas Kane itemizes the virtues of the running style- which he calls the freight-train style: It is useful when you wish to link a series of events, ideas, impressions, feelings, or perceptions as immediately as possible, without judging their relative value or imposing a logical structure upon them. . . .The sentence style directs our senses much as a camera directs them in a film, guiding us from one perception to another, yet creating a continuous experience. The freight-train style, then, can analyze experience much like a series of segregating sentences. But it brings the parts more closely together, and when it uses multiple coordination, it achieves a high degree of fluidity. In the essay Paradox and Dream, John Steinbeck adopts the running (or freight-train) style to identify some of the conflicting elements in the American character: We fight our way in, and try to buy our way out. We are alert, curious, hopeful, and we take more drugs designed to make us unaware than any other people. We are self-reliant and at the same time completely dependent. We are aggressive, and defenseless. Americans overindulge their children; the children in turn are overly dependent on their parents. We are complacent in our possessions, in our houses, in our education; but it is hard to find a man or woman who does not want something better for the next generation. Americans are remarkably kind and hospitable and open with both guests and strangers; and yet they will make a wide circle around the man dying on the pavement. Fortunes are spent getting cats out of trees and dogs out of sewer pipes; but a girl screaming for help in the street draws only slammed doors, closed windows, and silence. Clearly such a style can be effective in short bursts. But like any sentence style that calls attention to itself, the running style can easily wear out its welcome. Thomas Kane reports on the downside of the running style: The freight-train sentence implies that the thoughts it links together with grammatical equality are equally significant. But usually ideas are not of the same order of importance; some are major; others secondary. Moreover, this type of construction cannot show very precise logical relationships of cause and effect, condition, concession, and so on. To convey more complex relationships between ideas in our sentences, we generally shift from coordination to subordinationor, to use rhetorical terms, from parataxis to hypotaxis.

I felt so miserable during at the time, this was my first experience to attend in this session so I have no much knowledge about research topics and terminologies .I thought that participant information sheet means it includes only the participant information and we should write about all details about participant details. My task was to speak about participant information sheet, looking at how this important for researcher what are the criteria should be included in information sheet .When I started to speak about my topic I become so tensed and I am not able to convey my ideas to other members. I stumbled with my first sentence so I could not able to complete my presentation .I felt shy and ashamed about my ability to speak to other members, but I felt so sad towards me and trying not to cry. When the class was finished immediately I left the class room a nd did not speak to anyone. I realized that have no confidence to speak in front of my colleagues and tutors about my subject. With the economy sinking, many owners are making what they believe a wise financial decision by allowing eighteen to twenty year olds in their clubs. They are mixing eighteen to twenty in with the twenty-one and up crowd, as failing clubs owners only see more people more money. Every night thousands of young adults eighteen to twenty years old are let into nightclubs and everyone is at a great risk. Fewer and fewer clubs are now allowing those under the drinking age into their establishment. To eliminate a cause leading to more underage drinking, young adults eighteen to twenty should not be allowed into nightclubs serving alcohol. Throughout the course of this essay, I intend to prove that banning those under the legal drinking age from nightclubs serving alcohol not only benefits the community as a whole, but it helps each under age d rinker as well. It is often argued that young adults eighteen to twenty are financial savors to club owners.
